Before every repair, overhaul, refinement or other service, I hold a detailed consultation to understand my customers' exact requirements and to discuss the necessary technical effort.
The result is a well-founded cost estimate and an appropriate time frame for the job. When the finished instrument is collected, the scope of work and any special items are listed and explained. Each instrument also receives a checkbook.

Consulting
The advice begins with the choice of instrument, continues with repair alternatives, mouthpieces, oils and greases, accessories and more, and is rounded off with the selection of a suitable instrument case. A wide range of care products and accessories are available in the store and online store.
The range of consulting services is very extensive and varied, because it is part of my business philosophy to be a competent partner for my customers when it comes to instruments and their music.

Technical maintenance
During technical maintenance, the instrument is completely dismantled and all essential components are cleaned in a special bath. The valves and valve bushings are also degreased by hand, cleaned and re-oiled before being inserted into the machine. After cleaning, all slides are polished, greased and reintegrated into the instrument.
Replacing the horseshoe rubbers, water key springs and corks is standard. Finally, the instrument is treated with varnish care and the mouthpiece is polished after cleaning.

Machine overhaul
Due to playing, saliva and limescale deposits, the valves of your instrument wear out and the bearings fail. When rotary valves are overhauled, the bearings of the valves are cleaned and retracted, the vertical and lateral play is eliminated and the valves are completely reground in the valve bushing.
When overhauling Perinet valves, the liner is hollowed out if necessary and the valves (replacements) are lapped by hand. A valve overhaul is only ever carried out in conjunction with prior technical maintenance of the instrument.

Dent removal & reconditioning
Dents, dings and other metal damage to the bell, body, leadpipe, slide or valve loops are removed in the course of the dent removal work. Various special tools such as sickles, magnetic balls, cones, hammers and rods are used to remove even the most severe damage. Damaged solder joints are also reworked and completely re-soldered.
Each instrument can be visually customized with additional features. Instruments - or individual instrument parts - can be gold-plated or silver-plated, painted in color, given a vintage design or refined with a glass-bead blasted finish - every wish for something special can be fulfilled. Engravings, gemstones, colored pusher plates and more can also be added at a later date. There are many ways to customize the instrument and make it an eye-catcher.

Handle conversion
Each pusher - whether valve or trigger pusher - can be individually adapted and converted to suit the player's hand. Triggers can also be added at a later date and the trigger can be installed in the ideal playing position. The retrofitting of mini ball joints reduces trigger noise, improves the smoothness and response of the trigger system and increases the playability of the instrument. Fashionable inlays in the valve triggers are available in many colors and give the instrument a particularly individual character.

General overhaul
During the general overhaul, the entire instrument is first stripped of paint. Visual defects such as dents, scuffs, scratches or open solder joints are carefully repaired. The valves are completely and precisely overhauled, ground in and reintegrated into the machine so that they fit perfectly and run smoothly.
The instrument and all its components are then polished to a high gloss. If desired, it can also be finished with clear lacquer. As a result, the instrument is technically and visually as good as new.

Repair of woodwind instruments
Leaks in the keys and imprecise movements of the key mechanism can occur as a result of handling the delicate instrument and playing it. During the repair, the tightness of each key is checked with special tools and corrected and restored accordingly. If necessary, the key pads are replaced with original pads from the instrument manufacturer.
Another essential part of the repair is the replacement of faulty and damaged springs and corks. The key mechanism is also meticulously checked, straightened, adjusted and fixed. Finally, the instrument is played and finished.

A large number of Buddenbohm instruments are on display in my store. All instruments can be viewed, touched and played.
On special customer request, individual pieces are manufactured according to personal ideas.
In several detailed planning and feasibility meetings, your vision is gradually sketched and designed before we start building the instrument. Custom-made instruments are primarily offered in the trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn and trombone segments.
